The Centurion Theatre will host a unique art exhibition, “Treasures from darkness brought into light”, to raise funds for human trafficking victims living in “Our Home”, a place of restoration for victims of human trafficking.
Human trafficking is the trading of souls and the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world. This modern day slavery is one of the world’s most shameful crimes. South Africa is known as a source, transit and destination country for victims of human trafficking.
Artworks of various mediums will be auctioned to create awareness of human trafficking happening right here on our own doorstep. The artworks portray both the fear and darkness of human trafficking, as well as the freedom and light that comes when a victim is given a chance to start a new life.
The ladies of Our Home will share their own personal stories in a short film to end the silence and shame of their trauma and celebrate their victory over fear and bondage. These ladies have been subjected to terrible abuse, rape, torture, humiliation, shame and fear. Their courage and strength is to be admired and certainly proof tat they are extraordinary human beings.
Tickets for this Cheese and Wine fundraising event are available on request at R500 each and all proceeds of tickets and auctioned artworks will go to Our Home, a place where stories changes and makeovers are real for survivors of human trafficking.
