Our History
The Centurion Theatre was established by Dr Douw Greeff in 1993.
On the way back from a trip to Keurboomstrand with his Dad Professor Oppel Greeff, Douw came up with the idea of building a theatre in the heart of Centurion. At the time, 123 Amkor Street was under construction with the intention of being office buildings.
Douw contacted the architect Walter Neumann and all construction was stopped. The plans were changed and Douw’s dream took shape and the most beautiful theatre was built.
What We Do
At the Centurion Theatre, you can be sure of quality entertainment in a cosy environment. Whatever your needs, the staff will go out of their way to make your event as special as possible.
There are enough seats to accommodate 220 guests in Cinema style or 100 people seated comfortably around set tables.
We also have a Cellar venue with tables, chairs and a bar area that can seat 40 guests. It can be used for smaller intimate events like kitchen or stork teas, birthday parties and CD launches.
Our sound engineer
Marius Strydom is the Centurion Theatre’s in-house sound engineer and will assist with all sound, lights and recordings for shows, events and all functions at the theatre.
He is a singer, writer and musician; Marius plays electric, solo and rhythm guitar. He has received numerous awards and released three albums.
