Event Details

This music production has proven to be quite the hit in the Western Cape – with sold out shows at the annual Woordfees in 2018! It is the perfect show to celebrate Women’s Month and to treat the ladies in your life. Take note that this show is most enjoyable for men too – as it is sassy, sexy and the grooves are just what the doctor ordered. You are also welcome to get into the mood by dressing up for this occasion – think 20’s, pull on that string of pearls or that bow tie and funky hat! Join Luna Paige and some of Cape Town’s top musicians when they travel all the way to Gauteng to bring this much anticipated show to your doorstep.

Her Blues is a show for all the blues lovers out there! Featuring some of Cape Town’s finest musicians. In Her Blues, Luna Paige shares her affinity for the women in Blues by performing the classics, and sharing anecdotes about the blues women who sang them. This show celebrates the legendary ladies who sang the blues.

“It is about women in the industry, their stories, accomplishments and struggles and how they paved the way for other female stars on some of the biggest stages in the world today,” says Luna.

She journeys from the 1920’s where the blues found its roots in the cotton fields and church. She ventures into the raunchy gin bars, singing songs like Don’t you Feel my Leg by Blu Lu Baker and If I Can’t Sell It! by Ruth Brown.

The 6-piece band will also transport blues lovers to the swinging 50’s, and the 1960s’ where Nina Simone made an impact, writing songs about social issues. Also expect material by Janis Joplin, Tracy Chapman, Melody Gardot and Amy Winehouse.

The band is immaculate – emulating the old-school sound in the 20’s and picking up the electrics as they move into more recent times. Top Cape Town musicians on board such as Kevin Gibson, Michael Bester and Simon Orange. This show was directed by Richard Nosworthy.

Early bird tickets: R165 (before 1 August)
